Wine out West, a new series of wines from Mercer Estates, a family-owned winery, honors the pioneering spirit and western heritage of the Mercer Estates families. The first two releases are a 2009 Dead Canyon Cabernet Sauvignon and a 2010 Gone Fishin’ Riesing. The Cabernet Sauvignon is produced from Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah grapes from Dead Canyon Vineyard in Horse Heaven Hills where individual vineyard lots were fermented, pressed and then barrel-aged separately for 18 months in a combination of American and French Oak. The Riesling on the other hand comes from the Spring Creek vineyard in the Columbia Valley and was fermented in stainless steel tanks. Two additional wines will be added to the series in 2012.
