Bacardi Mourns Death of Former Chairman

Bacardi Limited mourns the loss of Manuel Jorge Cutillas, 81, the first Chairman of the group of Bacardi companies that formed Bacardi Limited in 1992. Cutillas, a fifth-generation Bacardi family member, was the great-great grandson of the Company’s founder, Don Facundo Bacardí Massó. “The Bacardi family and employees are deeply saddened at the passing of Manuel Jorge—one of the icons of our Company. Manuel Jorge—through his drive and leadership—helped shape the global company that we have today. His pursuit of growth for the Company took Bacardi from solely being a rum company to a diverse portfolio of premium brands which established us as a global player,” says Facundo L. Bacardi, Chairman of Bacardi Limited. “His dedication to the dynamic Bacardi culture of passion, excellence and entrepreneurial spirit will be greatly missed.”


Grey Goose Goes Golfing

Grey Goose vodka and the PGA Tour yesterday announced a marketing relationship designating Grey Goose as the Tour’s “Official Spirit” for the next three years. Terms of the agreement were undisclosed. The brand has long-established ties with professional golfers and is currently represented by six-time PGA Tour champion Matt Kuchar, the official Grey Goose golf pro.


Manhattan Beer Rolls Out New CNG Trucks

Manhattan Beer Distributors (MBD) on Monday added an additional 12 trucks to its growing fleet of compressed natural gas delivery vehicles. MBD is a pioneer in using CNG trucks in the New York metro area having first introduced 15 trucks in 2002 out of its headquarters in Bronx, N.Y. The addition of the 12 CNG trucks to the Long Island fleet brings the total number of CNG trucks to 75, out of 300 delivery trucks overall.


WAT-AAH! to Launch Sparkling Line

The new "WAT-AAH! Party" line of products includes five SKUs infused with natural fruit essences such as lemon, lime, grapefruit and raspberry-lime as well as an unflavored variety. Staying true to the brand's identity, all of the products are functional, containing natural electrolytes, and have no sugar, calories or artificial sweeteners. They are available in 16.9 oz PET/BPA free bottles in 12-pack cases.


Activate Expands East Coast Distribution

Activate Drinks has announced expanded distribution to leading East Coast grocery retailers, Stop & Shop and Shaw’s, less than a year after the brand entered the East Coast market. The nutrient-enhanced water that keeps vitamins fresh in its patented twist cap will be available in 400 Stop & Shop locations and positioned in the enhanced beverage section of the store beginning in November 2013. Stop & Shop will carry six varieties within the Activate portfolio, including Activate Beauty: Exotic Berry, Activate Defy: Pomegranate Blue, Activate Defend: Orange, Activate Charged: Grape and Lemon Lime and Activate Balance: Fruit Punch.


Saint Arnold Enters Fourth State, Fla.

Saint Arnold Brewing Co. (, the oldest craft brewery in Texas, has finalized agreements with distributors in Florida and will enter markets along Florida's Gulf Coast this month. Florida is just the fourth state where Saint Arnold beers are available, joining Texas, Louisiana and Colorado. Saint Arnold, which is named for Saint Arnold of Metz, the patron saint of brewers, is ranked 45th on the Brewers Association list of top craft breweries. It operates out of a 104,000 square foot 3-story brick building originally constructed in 1914. Saint Arnold's brewhouse was imported from Klosterbrauerei Raitenhaslach, a Bavarian monastery.


U.K. Pubs to Get Christmas-Themed Stella Bottles

AB InBev has launched limited-edition Christmas-themed bottles of Stella Artois specifically for the festive season. The bottles sport a red and gold neck sleeve emblazoned with the Christmas Star. (The Publican's Morning Advertiser)
