Balcones Distilling Announces Expansion

Balcones Distilling, an award-winning maker of whisky that already has a buyer for every bottle it makes, will turn the historic Waco Fireproof Storage building downtown into a showplace for its craft that will beckon tourists and sell products in a gift shop. The company will spend “into eight figures” renovating the Waco landmark at 225 S. 11th St. that dates back to 1923, and building and installing new distilling equipment, said Chip Tate, president and head distiller. He said the equipment will include larger stills and tanks to be created by fourth-generation still makers at Forsyths of Scotland. (Waco Tribune)
