Coke Seeks to Patent Sugar-Free Fiber Drink

The Coca-Cola Co. is seeking to patent what it says is a novel sugar-free beverage with fiber. In a U.S. patent application made public today, Coca-Cola says there's a need for healthier frozen carbonated and non-carbonated beverages. It notes that fiber is an essential component to the human diet that is derived primarily from plants. In recent years, fiber supplements and/or food additives have been marketed to consumers for a variety of nutritional and health purposes. (Atlanta Journal-Constitution)
