Tuesday, 18 November 2008
PURCHASE, N.Y.: PepsiCo Inc. says it will shift its advertising account for the Pepsi brand in the U.S. to TBWA/Chiat/Day in Los Angeles.

BBDO had been handling the account. Both agencies are owned by the Omnicom Group.

PepsiCo said it picked the new agency "to refresh Pepsi's communications across multiple consumer touch points and to reinvigorate Pepsi's legacy of leading-edge advertising."

The company said it will continue its relationship with BBDO for several of its other brands, including Mountain Dew and Pepsi Max.

PepsiCo added that the move will not affect BBDO's "responsibility for Pepsi and other brands outside the United States."

The company also said it will continue to use Omnicom's Arnell Design Group for brand identity and packaging innovation.

PepsiCo shares rose 68 cents, or 1.3 percent, to $54.20 in afternoon trading.
