BEIJING: In order to preserve the freshness of beer and cut the transportation cost, China's top beer producer Tsingtao Brewery plans to set up plants overseas in a bid to change its situation of sound reputation with poor sales performance in overseas markets.

Though Tsingtao Brewery does a good job in the domestic market, it has taken a small share of the international market. According to statistics provided by the company, it has an annual output of 5.05 million kl, but only 1 percent is exported, one-third of which goes to the United States.

Chairman of Tsingtao Brewery, Jin Zhiguo, disclosed that the scheme to set up a plant in Thailand has been approved by the board. Once success is achieved, the mode will be applied to other overseas markets including America, he said.
