Brussels: Brewer InBev S.A. said all its white beer production will be transferred to its revamped Hoegaarden site from June 1.
A spokesperson told Thomson Financial News that currently 80 percent of its Hoegaarden white beer is being produced at the facility, while 20 percent is being manufactured at the group's Jupille site.
From June 1, 100 percent of the group's white beer will be produced in Hoegaarden. The move follows a shift in Hoegaarden beer production to Jupille at the end of 2006.
The spokesperson said the production shift back to Hoegaarden was necessary due to a 9 percent increase in Hoegaarden beer exports.
In 2006, the brewer considered closing the Hoegaarden plant in favour of a relocation to Jupille as part of a wider domestic restructuring strategy.
The Hoegaarden site has been upgraded, with new brewing installations such as bottling machines, the spokesperson said.
Its capacity is 1 million hectolitres per year.
The revamp forms part of a 60 million euro investment in the group's Belgian brewing operations in Hoegaarden and Liege-Jupille et Leuven.
InBev's Belgian operations, employing over 3000 staff, has four centres of production in Leuven, Liege-Jupille, Hoegaarden and Brussels, eight distribution centres and a portfolio of brands
