Buy Wine, Earn Sky Miles
Thursday, 17 April 2008
Online wine marketer 800wine.com and AirTran airlines have recently partnered together to help AirTran customers receive free flights when they buy wine from the website.

The partnership will allow AirTran flyers to earn credits towards a free flight with the airline's A+ Rewards credit program.

"We are delighted to partner with AirTran Airways and their highly regarded A+ Rewards program," says Jim McClellan, executive vice president of WSN Systems Corp., the parent company of 800wine.com. "For any partnership, we always look for consistent growth, innovative strategies, and excellent products at very competitive prices. AirTran Airways has all three of these, and we are very excited about the prospects of a long-term partnership."

For every $100 spent on 800wine.com products, customers will receive one half credit. Four credits buy a business-class upgrade on AirTran, while eight credits buy a free one-way coach ticket.

"The number of credits required for a free flight is quite small," says McLellan. "So credits are very valuable."

Customers don't have to obtain four credits with just one purchase, though. The online wine website will keep track of total spending until members reach the award threshold.

The website was established in 1999 and offers products such as gift baskets, crystal glassware and bottles of wine. It ships to all 50 states, as well as several international countries.
