The San Diego County Fair Craft Brewers Competition Festival, a beer contest held at the Del Mar Fairgrounds, is now accepting applications for its second annual event.
Licensed commercial breweries and microbreweries are invited to enter the competition, which will be held May 10 in Del Mar. Entrants will be competing for gold, silver and bronze medals in 99 classes of beer, mead and cider. A "Best of Show" prize also will be awarded.
After the competition is over, brewers will have the opportunity to sample their beers during the actual San Diego County Fair. That event will take place on June 21 and each brewer will be permitted to sample up to four of its beers. It also will include food, entertainment and an awards ceremony, and attendees will have the opportunity to purchase a souvenir tasting cup and wristband for beer tastings.
