This just in: Sweet Leaf Tea's "Granny" announced her bid for the presidency at the Fancy Foods Winter show in San Diego, Calif., Jan. 11-13. Granny, best known as the beloved muse of Texas-born and brewed bottled tea company, Sweet Leaf Tea, had a platform of "Organic for Everyone."

"I stand for liber-tea and great taste for all!" says Granny in a statement released by her campaign manager and grandson, Clayton Christopher.

"As Americans, we all deserve access to all-natural, organic beverages, free of high fructose corn syrup. If I win—and I'm in it to win by the way—I will lead this country towards a healthy and refreshing future!"

Sweet Leaf Tea Granny's long history and outstanding record of success with organic teas and lemonades is testament to her great commitment to her "Organic for Everyone" platform and plans for the future of our nation. One of Granny's most recent accomplishments is creating Sweet Leaf Tea's newest organic flavor, Organic Pomegranate Green Tea, which she debuted at the Fancy Foods Show. Already well-received by her loyal supporters, Pomegranate Green Tea joins Sweet Leaf Tea's other organic flavors including: Organic Original Sweet Tea, Organic Mint & Honey Green Tea, Organic Peach Sweet Tea, Organic Very Berry Hibiscus Tea, and Organic Half & Half Lemonade Tea, Organic Original Lemonade, Organic Peach Lemonade and Organic Cherry Limeade.

"What Granny is doing is outstanding," says Christopher. "Her commitment to organic foods and the health of our nation makes her the natural choice for president in '08."

Granny is greatly supported by her Sweet Leaf family who believes that her undying dedication and passion for all-natural and great tasting organic tea will make her an exemplary presidential candidate.

Based in Austin, Texas, Sweet Leaf Tea was founded in 1998 by Clayton Christopher. Using his grandmother's tried-and-true iced-tea recipe, Clayton and his best friend and business partner, David Smith, brewed the original batches of Sweet Leaf Tea in pillowcases, using crawfish pots as brew tanks.
