Tuesday, 05 February 2008
Irina VoroninaGerman brewing company St. Pauli Girl recently announced its 2008 model, Irina Voronina, who will appear on the St. Pauli Girl poster and will represent the company on a national media tour throughout the year.

The poster features Voronina dressed in the traditional St. Pauli Girl barmaid outfit, holding a tray of St. Pauli Girl beer.

"Her photogenic appeal and the fact that she resembles the St. Pauli Girl make her the obvious choice," says Bill Ligas, public relations director for Crown Imports LLC, the beer’s importer. "A key part of the job is working as a spokesmodel, and she’s got great experience with that."

Voronina, was Playboy magazine’s Miss January 2001 and has done print campaign work for Chevrolet, Ameristar Hotels and the Luxor in Las Vegas. Her acting experience includes the films "Balls of Fury," "Epic Movie" and "Reno 911: Miami." She also frequently appears on the Cartoon Network’s television show "Saul of the Mole Men."

The company will make its promotional blitz for the poster beginning in late February and continuing through March. Voronina will be traveling in markets throughout the country, appearing on television morning shows, at bars and at retail establishments, among other locations. Throughout the month, St. Pauli Girl will give away 400 free posters each day on a first-come, first-serve basis to fans who log on to the company's website at stpauligirl.com. The poster will be available to download on the site and can be used as a screensaver.

"This poster program is one of the most popular programs we have," says Ligas.

In addition, the company will post photographs on its site to give St. Pauli Girl loyalists a behind-the-scenes look at how the poster was made. Pictures of previous St. Pauli Girl models will be available as well.
