When Dr. Josh Leichtberg, M.D., an award-winning internist, realized that his teenage children (and their friends) actually preferred his homemade drink to regular soda pop, he was surprised.
What Leichtberg created was Sparka, an all-natural, healthy drink with no calories, no sugar or sugar alcohols, no artificial sweeteners, no artificial flavors or colors and no added caffeine. Because his family took such a liking to his concoction, he began thinking that this beverage could play a role in fighting the modern epidemic of diabetes and obesity.
"Two of the most serious health problems we have today, worldwide, are obesity and diabetes," says Leichtberg, who specializes in internal medicine and weight control. "The biggest cause of this epidemic is the over-consumption of sugar... And excessive sugar consumption has been linked to many health problems in addition to obesity and diabetes—ranging from simple tooth decay all the way to heart disease and cancer."
In mid-2007, he decided to introduce his beverage to the public. Sparka has zero calories and is a natural dietary supplement; it provides nutrients like vitamin C, calcium and the herb, stevia, all to address the core health problems associated with sugar consumption, relays the company.
Because of its health orientation, the beverage line of four flavors was recently recognized by the internationally syndicated parenting/family newspaper column "Parent to Parent's" Adding Wisdom Award in the three categories, Health Fitness for Family, Food and Beverage and Unique Products. "Parent to Parent" columns also appear in parenting publications and on many websites as a parenting/family resource.
"Sparka helps solve these critical health problems in a drink that people love," says Leichtberg, creator of the Bioslim Weight Loss system and author of multiple books and articles on health and weight loss. "It's an outstanding achievement, one that can clearly generate significant health improvement across the country, and the world." |
