When LightFull Foods co-founders Lara Jackle and Lynn Yako Graham founded their small San Francisco-based company in 2005 they were looking to create a product that consumers could "juggle without struggle"—-meaning something they could grab on-the-go that was satisfying as a snack without being loaded with calories, sugar and fat.
Their product, Satiety Smoothie, is developed around The Science of Satiety, a dietitian-recommended strategy for eating foods that create a sensation of fullness, explains the company.
Satiety Smoothies contains calcium, five grams of fiber and protein, less sugar than a glass of milk, 90 calories and is formulated to keep consumers satisfied an average of two to three hours, says the company. "The challenge is to find something other than 100-calorie portioned junk foods that leave us hungry for more," says Jackle, CEO. "We're a society scrambling to find healthy, satisfying, low-calorie snacks that taste good and now there's a real solution."
The smoothies comes in five flavors: Chocolate Satisfaction, Peachy Cream, Café Latte, Strawberry Bliss and the newest addition, Mango Oasis. Each flavor is made with Generally Recognized As Safe (GRAS)-approved sweeteners by the FDA, gluten free, low glycemic and contain no saturated fats, trans fats or cholesterol. As early as spring 2008, all LifeFull Smoothies will be certified as kosher dairy, relays the company.
To live up to its mantra, the company also launched new portable, more convenient 8.25-ounce bottles with re-sealable caps. "Our new premium, re-sealable plastic bottle not only allows Satiety Smoothie lovers to customize their own portion sizes, its spill-proof design makes it easier to enjoy and more snackable whether you're dashboard dining or sipping at home or the office," says Jackle. |
