In honor of this year’s Rugby World Cup, Sidel unveiled a new .75-liter PET bottle shaped like a rugby ball, with the same oval shape and grainy texture created by 10,000 dimples on four panels. In a quest to create a realistic-looking package, Sidel’s process engineering department looked for ways to reproduce the ball’s stitches, texture and kicking tee. The designers also placed the label under the bottle to avoid altering the shape of the ball. The bottle was made on a Sidel blow molding machine.
