The Fine Art of Tea Brewing In a Bottle |
|
Thursday, 09 August 2007 |
For almost 30 years, Millerton, NY-based Harney & Sons has been associated with high-quality steeping tea as its products are often found in upscale hotels, such a the Ritz Carlton, and gourmet stores like Williams Sonoma. John Harney and a partner bought a tea company from an old tea man, Stanley Mason, back in 1970.
Over the next several years, Mason taught Harney the art of fine tea, instilling in him the knowledge that loose tea leaves make the best cup and how to make the best tea bags. As a result of this instruction, Harney & Sons tea bags have larger leaves and more of them than the competition, the company says.
In 1983, Harney formed his own company and proceeded to give the staid tea industry a shaking with the concept of selling great tea at a price that would make it an everyday luxury.
Today, John Harney's sons, Michael and Paul, are part of the family business, traveling the world searching for renowned varietals and new infusions. The company is now expanding its expertise of fine tea to the ready-to-drink segment to make it more convenient for consumers to experience the high-quality taste of Harney & Sons' teas.
The premium organic RTD line-up has five lightly-sweetened flavors in 16-ounce bottles: Black, Green, Black Currant, Peach and Bangkok, which is flavored with coconut and lemongrass. |
