Breaking Away From Tradition

Named the Best Gin in the United States at the 2007 International Review of Spirits Competition, G'Vine is anything but ordinary. The first gin to be distilled from grapevine flowers, G'Vine received the gold medal over established industry regulars like Hendricks’s Gin of Scotland and Martin Miller’s Gin of England, which came in second and third place, respectively. G'Vine was launched in 2006 by Eurowinegate, a French wine company based in Cognac.

"Getting so much interest worldwide is an achievement and a promise of a great future, but above all a duty and obligation for even more hard work, commitment and dedication to quality for the team. As a company, we ought to immediately accompany the growth of G’Vine and keep up with the demand from all over the world for this 'new standard' of the industry,” says Jean Sebastien Robicquet, founder of Eurowinegate .

ImageG’Vine breaks away from the traditional gin made with grain spirit and offers a complex, ultra-premium contemporary gin made with the rare green grape flower, according to the company. G’Vine is produced in mid-June where the rare Ugni Blanc flower, which lasts only two weeks after blossoming, is hand-picked. The green grape spirit is then distilled with a blend of nine sweet-smelling botanicals: ginger roots, green cardamom, cassia bark, licorice, coriander, juniper berries, cubeb berries, nutmeg and lime. The ingredients are then blended again and copper-pot distilled.

“The month of June is very hectic for us because we need to assess the quantity needed for the next 18 months, harvest the flowers and distill them to always keep this safety stock,” says Robicquet.

After seeing growth in super-premium and flavored vodkas, Robicquet, a distiller and oenologist, decided it was the perfect opportunity to offer the industry a mixable gin.

“It can be enjoyed simply with tonic or even neat… This versatility, unique to gin, is the major attribute of vodka,” says Robicquet. Unlike traditional gins, G’Vine is lighter and can be substituted in any cocktail where vodka is used and the company's website, www.g-vine.com, has a list of “Ginfusion” cocktail drinks using G'Vine. G’Vine has a suggested retail price ranging from $35 to $40.

G’Vine is currently available in Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Massachusetts, New York, Washington DC, Maryland, Georgia, Wisconsin, and middle Tennessee. By the end of the year G’vine will become available in Arizona, California, Missouri and Nevada. G’Vine also is available at www.sherry-lehman.com.
