Case-A-Matic
ImageNew from HK Systems (Milwaukee, WI) is the Case-A-Matic Storage and Sequencing system. The company reports that the first major installation of the system, which has been designed to bring speed and accuracy to case-level material handling, was for an Anheuser-Busch brewery location. The system uses laser positioning for accuracy in horizontal and vertical positioning and can be used in ambient, freezer and cooler environments. With seven load extractors operating independently, the Case-A-Matic can achieve throughput rates of 400 cases per hour per machine. According to the company, during a typical storage request the Case-A-Matic would pick up to seven cases at once and deliver them to one or more shelf locations. Likewise, a pick request would initiate a pick up from one or more shelf locations, accumulating up to seven cases to be delivered to an outbound point. According to the company, this is the ideal for applications that require dense storage and high throughput for a diverse set of SKUs, including mixed case order fulfillment, work-in-progress (WIP) inventory buffering and wave and batch sequencing. The system was designed to integrate smoothly with existing warehouse management systems and can be used with standard shelving. www.hksystems.com
