 Vouvry, Switzerland-based Magplastic’s SSB-02 two-stage linear stretch blowmolder offers flexibility in PET bottle design for low- and mid-speed applications. A new preferential heating technology—available on new SSB-02 systems and as a retrofit on existing machines—balances hot and cold axes, allowing for very precise wall thickness distribution even on complex bottles. The precision means that preform weight can be optimized for greater cost savings. The SSB-02 also enables several package design innovations that competitive machines can not accommodate. A unique loading system allows for the handling of small PET bottles with or without neck rings as well as accommodating bottle designs with a body diameter greater than the ring, such as wine bottles.
