 Sidel says its new 40,000 bph Actis 48 is the fastest PET bottle barrier treatment equipment on the market, optimal for beer, carbonated soft drinks and oxygen-sensitive beverages. On the filling front, the company’s merger with Simonazzi has provided the company with the Simonazzi Eurotronica FM-LT (long tube), characterized by accurate filling with low-oxygen content, rapid format changeovers and product saving. New from Sidel at Emballage was the Predis decontamination process for use with packaging for sensitive drinks. The system, which has been designed on Sidel’s Combi integrated blowing, filling, capping unit, uses dry decontamination with hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) vapor. Preforms are transferred by the neck on a wheel from the preform infeed to the oven entrance, where the Predis system is located. Nozzles calibrated to between 120ºC and 140ºC apply an even coating of the hydrogen peroxide vapor, which is then activated by the heat of the oven. The bottles are blown using filtered air and transferred to a controlled environment so that no recontamination occurs during filling and capping. sidel.com |
