Krones Multireel & Checkmat |

November 2006 was a busy month for Krones (Neutraubling, Germany), when the company displayed a variety of new technologies during Brau Beviale and Emballage. The Multireel is an enhancement to the company’s popular Contiroll wrap-around labeler that enables users to operate the labeler for up to four hours without operator intervention. The eight-reel magazine can be retrofitted onto existing Contiroll systems. The Checkmat 731, meanwhile, provides quality assurance for label applications. The system uses two CCD cameras to monitor labels for accurate positioning and verify that the correct label has been applied. An optional third camera can be installed for barcode detection. Also new was a line of handling parts designed to reduce downtime and simplify changeovers. The Raptec parts feature new quick-release locks—a guide starwheel can be opened and closed with one hand, for example—and are light but sturdy in construction and color-coded for operator reference. Finally, Krones introduced its new Intralogistics capabilities. Building on a series of successfully completed projects, Krones has decided to focus on operating as a main contractor for intralogistics between bottling lines and warehouses. Using simulation studies, Krones will oversee the configuration and construction of high-bay warehouses or expansion of existing facilities to optimize efficiency. krones.com |
