Xyience Announces Video Contest

Xyience Xenergy, the official energy drink of the UFC, has announced its “How Do You Say XYIENCE?” video contest, which runs now through Nov. 15, 2013. Hosted on the Xyience Facebook page, the contest asks fans to create and submit an original video that helps people to understand how to correctly pronounce Xyience. One lucky winner will take home the grand prize, which includes a one-year supply of Xenergy, a Xyience backpack, t-shirt and other swag. The Facebook contest is open to U.S. residents who are 18 years of age or older. There is no purchase necessary to participate. Contest details are available at

The contest is inspired by “Xy-What?”, a video that features Xyience team athletes Dan Hardy, UFC welterweight fighter and Mike Escamilla, a BMX pro and extreme stuntman. The two duke it out while searching for people who can pronounce Xyience correctly. The video was recently featured in a Las Vegas Business Press cover story about branding initiatives for companies with hard-to-pronounce names.

“We know our true friends, fans and followers already know how to pronounce Xyience like pros, but we believe there is still work to be done to educate others about our hard-to-pronounce appellation,” says John Lennon, XYIENCE’s president.

Contest rules stipulate that video entries cannot promote excessive consumption of Xenergy drink products or relate to children under the age of 18 in any way.

“Whether you’re an aspiring videographer or just like to point and shoot with your smart phone, XYIENCE encourages everyone to get creative and participate in this promotion,” says Aimee Wenske, XYIENCE’s marketing coordinator who oversees the brand’s social media.  “So have fun with friends and family members who still need to be schooled in the art of Xyience pronunciation.”
